Spaceseed and solo updates

T.O.T.M My project w/ longtime friend Brian Vaughan is set to be released sometime in 2009 . The album started in 2003 when I flew out to the San Francisco Bay area and recorded w/ Brian. Brian has worked w/ Skip Spence(Moby Grape,Jefferson Airplane) on "Land of the Sun and some other recordings. Brian plays a myriad of Instruments and has a nice ear for production. We have worked on stuff and mailed and shot mp3's back and forth from California to Georgia working on the record. Over 80 minutes of music was recorded, Brian V. is producing the cd, I have done some pre-production on it. The album is Ambient/Spacerock with me and Brian V playing all the instruments w/ Special Guest Space poet Will Dockery and Some voices in Outerspace languages by Cristina Fowler and Venancio Cabaron.I sing lead vocals on a couple songs and the content is Long psychedelic passages and guitar work w/ Brian V's Synth work. Alot of therimen and different instruments like Rhodes Piano,Synth,Rainstick,Bells,Animals and Egatoidal Languages and much more. My Fav tracks so far are Maddness and Walking Drowned. Walking Drowned is about Stillborn Babies that come alive to tell of the impending doom of the world etc...... There are some samples up at the T.O.T.M site. I do most of the Lead Guitar on the album. Stay tuned to this site or the T.O.T.M site for info on the release.

Brian Fowler "ECHOBEAST EP" is available now as well . I made a site so the music could be available for download as well as a video for the song. I was writing Movie Soundtrack music and wanted to do a project w/ my son Charles. Charles is a talented drummer and guitarist and getting better all the time. One of the songs Ballroom is a dedication to all the Late 60's San Francisco Bands Like Quicksilver, Moby Grape etc... The EP 4 songs of some pretty wierd stuff especially ECHOBEAST was mastered by Glen Falkenstein in Cartersville Georgia. I would have never released the EP but I played it to Bibb City Bandmate Dan Davidson and he really loved it and he felt I should do something w/ it. The download is $2.99 and is some Spacrock/Ambient stuff. It sounds like early 70's music like Amon Duul,Can etc..... The link to it is in the friends section, if you like it add it to your I-POD. You can buy from Brian Fowler Soundclick page. Peace and Thanks
Brian

Howdy Folks, So much happening right now with the music. Spaceseed is preparing for a cd release called Architects of Twilight. The album features Hawkwind Legends Bridget Wishart and Harvey Bainbridge as well as Jefferson Airplane Founding Member Bob Harvey and Dixie Inc. /Speed X/Doubledrive Bassist Josh Sattler. The talent assembled for this record is amazing produced by Allen Welty Green this album is 10 songs of pure hard driving spacerock. This is my 3rd album with Spaceseed and easily the best one to date. I joined Spaceseed in late 2004 and enjoy the creativity and music we create together. I had seen Spaceseed during the tours w/ Nik Turner and really liked the driving sound. My band at the time (Jones Ave.w/ Bob Harvey) opened for Nik and the Seed at the Cullman Alabama Civic Center. It was there I got to talk more w/ John Pack the Founder and Vision of Spaceseed for over 20 years. The show was fruitful because Paul Angelsanto (Astro Al) also was on the bill. Astro Al has been the lyricist of Spaceseed the entire time I have been with the band. On the albums I write some lyrics and John does and Paul writes the rest. Paul is very gifted and skilled as a wordsmith and is vital to the Seed. After the tour I joined the band and we started on the next leg of the journey recording "The Empire of Night" album. The album features Harvey Bainbridge of Hawkwind. I have always been a huge fan of Harvey's. The Hawkwind albums The Church of Hawkwind and Sonic Attack were some of my favorites of all time. Working w/ Harvey was fantastic, the shows were great and being in the studio was memorable. I had written Wasted Skies for the record and to watch and hear him sing the lyrics was awesome. The studio album released in 2006 was the last one until now. The Architects of Twilight is a amazing album to me. Bridget Wishart another Hawkwind Great does a amazing job on vocals and it is fantastic to work w/ her. My old Chum Bob Harvey does a amazing reading on "Blood on My Hands". I met Bob in Saudi Arabia in 1990 during Desert Storm. We were both w/ NMCB-24 w/ the Seabees. Blew my mind to find out he was the first bassist in the Jefferson Airplane. We ended up doing 4 cd's together and have a 19 year friendship. Allen Welty Green produced the album. Me and John produced the last two records and we were more than glad to hand the reigns over to him. Allen is a special guy, he not only rocks on the keys he has a dynamite ear for music. I have to mention Hank Tart on drums and of course John Pack. Those guys are great musicians and are true friends. I play lead guitar in tandem w/ John Pack on the record and sang lead on The Saucer Incident. Folks who like Can,Mars Volta,Gong,The Floyd things like that will love the record. My personal favorites on the record are Titan and Warlord. Stellar performances by the whole AOT Crew Spaceseed's Architects Of Twilight crew are : Hank Tart- John Pack-Brian Fowler- Allen Welty Green-Astro Al-Joshua Sattler-John Stanton- Harvey Bainbridge- Bridget Wishart-Steve Hayes - Donna Carroll- Bob Harvey and Mark Reiser

Bob Harvey has got the Blues / Concert For Big Red

"I'm working on a Blues Album which I'll share as soon as it's complete. Have a happy holiday season.

The concert for Big Red started slow, but Sunday was fabulous. I'll send pictures of both the big concert and of my Thursday night performance at the"Red Hare" an art gallery and small intimate music venue in Astoria. Both audio and cd recordings were made, as well a lot of still photography, which I will share as soon as I get it all and get organized.

Also, the show in Astoria was so fucking fine. I sure hope next years version is as good. I'm working on a new album. The band is "Silver Rain" - Bob Harvey on Electric Bass and vocals, Paul Williams on rhythm guitar and vocals, Missy Schmit on keyboard, chello and vocals, Zac Lanier on Lead guitar and vocals."

Georgia Blue now has disbanded after a final album, "Live at Oakman." (now available here). They simply weren't getting enough gigs to keeps the members happy. Bob has gone solo and produced a country/rock, trucking album called "Movin On." He's also signed with a manager named Ron Elrod, whose father owns a trucking company and he also owns the 73 Kenworth that was used on the tv series "Movin On" in the 1970s. They'll have that truck with at the truck show in Atlanta in July and Bob will have a booth in front of the truck. The first truckin album "Movin On Volume I" is complete and he's now working on Volume II in order to have a double album to sell at the truck show.

Bob Harvey has kindly offered up two MP3s for your musical delectation - "Eighteen Wheels" and another cut off "Movin On" called "Mother Trucker Blues." Bob wrote it in 1978 while he was entertainment editor at "Mother Trucker News." It was written as a promotional release that was played on a country station in San Bernardino, CA

Issue #37 of the Jefferson Airplane mag "Holding Together" is out now and it has a stunning review of the Georgia Blue album "Children Of The Wind". Get in touch with Steve Rowland for details on how to buy / subscribe. Meantime, here's a scan of the review.

I am back in Spaceseed. We hired a extra bassist for the gigs I can't make. The new Brian Fowler "Fountain City Blues" will be done in Sept. This cd came out really good samples at Soundclick... Brian

As of 4-20-07 I am no longer the bassist producer of SPACESEED. I had a blast in the band and got to work w/ John Pack and Harvey Bainbridge and make 2 records "The Empire of Night" and "Assault Transmission". My hectic schedule is the reason to step out of the band, I am doing alot of traveling and spending alot of time in the Bristol Va. area as well as South Georgia. I am working on a acoustic record where I am playing all the instruments violin, mandolin, gtr, bass, slide gtrs etc and I hope to have that record out by 2008. I will taking a step back otherwise and taking a break. After 11 albums, countless compilations and a movie soundtrack its time to take a sabbatical. To all those who have supported the music and bought cd's thank you and thanks to all my musical collaborators over the years like Bob Harvey,John Pack, Harvey Bainbridge and Gabe Holland you all have added alot to the music and have been fantastic friends. Thanks to Stuart Hamilton who has kept a website running for years now and also keeping the cd's going out to all corners of the globe. Samples of the Acoustic record are here please leave a comment and say hello in the comment section.. http://www.soundclick.com/brianfowler

The new Spaceseed album featuring Brian and ex Hawkwind member Harvey Bainbridge is in the shop now!

Hello People, I hope all is going well this year. The music is still going strong, please check out the catalog here at www.sfblue.co.uk all the cd's are still available from from Superczar,Georgia Blue, Jones Ave. and San Francisco Blue. There is posters and stickers available w/ the live SFB signed by the band. There is some compilations Superczar was involved in that are onlly available here as well as the Superczar compilation(gray Cover) that has the first 2 Superczar albums together. Bob Harvey has his 60's bluegrass recordings Slippery Rock String Band Live. Those recordings are very special. They were recorded soon after Bob left the Jefferson Airplane. Superczar "The Misadventures of Stanley Howard has Hank Pop Tart the Drummer of Spaceseed and myself on them. Arian Arcu celloist of the Scorpions appears as well. Soon after this album was released Brian and Hank joined Spaceseed so the album wasn't really reviewed promoted or anything. I have had alot of people tell me that is the best album I have been a part of so pick one up. My personal favorite albums I have been a part of are Superczar "Stanley Howard" and San Francisco Blue "Hurting For People" and of course "Empire of Night" the new album from Spaceseed. From 2000-2005 I was part of 10 album releases and 4 compilations a movie soundtrack. Most of these albums are available here from Zeitgeist as well as cdbaby(Some of them). We appreciate you picking up a cd because it keeps this music out and available. Bob Harvey just returned from California on tour w/ Jerry Miller of Moby Grape.Bob is in his seventies now and is still active putting out albums and doing live dates. I am doing more electric music now, but the mandolin will get some time in the not so near future. I am thinking of doing a solo album of instrumental mandolin tunes I have written within the next few years. Right now myself John Pack and Harvey Bainbridge are producing the new Spaceseed album. We plan on having that available in 2007. We are about 1/4 done with it now. I am enjoying engineering and producing alot. Working w/ harvey bainbridge is really cool. Another psychedelic rock legend will be coming into the fold soon, I will announce this when 100% in stone. To have this legendary vocalist in the Zeta-Reticuli fold will be really cool and a dream come true for me.Stay tuned for this latebreaking news story. I went to Bristol Va. and played at the rythym and Roots Festival at the Holiday Inn. To all those who were so kind buying me beer and drinks and cd's thank you.I felt like a king and appreciate your enthusiam and excitement towards my music. The Spaceseed tour is coming up and the excitement is building, Harvey will be here Oct 1st and he will be laying tracks and adding his great vocals and keyboards to AOT. The new album is selling fast, we are having distributors from all over the world buying large quantities of the cd. This is almost the biggest seller i have ever had already. The hawkwind fans are rabid and really want the new Spaceseed. Harvey Bainbridge is features and really shines on the record. Jefferson Airplane Founding member Bob harvey appears and does a nice job on bass. BOb is very underrated as a writer to me. Very few of the 60's rockers are still out and making records. Bob is working w/ Echota Records right now. Hopefully one day we can work on another project. We recorded 4 cd's together (All available Here). Bob has moved towards more of a Alt Country sound and is still working w/ Alesia Chester on vocals. She is on Georgia Blue "Seeds of Revolution" , which was my last album w/ that group. We are working on the record label ZETA-RETICULI which released "Empire of Night" this year. We hope to do some Spacerock compilations for radio. We will be taking submissions from bands who want to be on a compilation w/ Spaceseed. This tuesday Sept we will be live on the radio WREK in Atlanta. This year was a great year and alot of new group was broken. I appreciate all of the folks who have supported me and my my music. The music has been eclectic and constant. Empire of Night was my 11th record. I hope to keep recording and making my music availablee the best way i can. Stuart Hamilton (Zeitgeist) deserved some credit because he has kept a website available for over 6 years and has handled the distribution nicely in the U.K and abroad. Thanks Stuart and thanks to everyone who supports this music. Thanks Brian Fowler

A message from Brian

Hello friends and family. I hope 2006 is rolling to your liking.Alot has happened this year. The release of Georgia Blue "Seeds of Revolution" and Spaceseed "The Empire of Night" and alot of live shows tours by both Spaceseed and Georgia Blue. Back in 1995 ten years ago is when Bob and myself basically started this chain of music we have made. I believe between me and Bob we have released over 14 albums 4 Shuteye record compilations, Moby Grape soundtrack and a movie soundtrack to "Chaos god and the Sunmonster". Alot of blood sweat and tears were shed over the last 10 years. The Future holds alot as well too.

The release of "Empire of Night" this year and a tour w/ Harvey Bainbridge has got the Spaceseed camp very excited. Before I joined the band Spaceseed had toured nationally w/ Nik Turner(Hawkwind) and released "Future Cities of the Past" in 2005. I was able to co-produce the album w/ Spaceseed founder John Pack and it was unbelievable working w/ Harvey Bainbridge. His synth playing is really killer and he is a jolly good fella as well. Spaceseed is working on another album right now and I will be the engineer and co-producer of the album. Harvey Bainbridge will be on the album as well as Bob Harvey.

Here is some more latebreaking news! This is the groups first collaboration with former Hawkind member Harvey Bainbridge The band will be embarking on a fall tour featuring Harvey om synths and vocals this October. New Year Message from Brian

Happy new year to everybody! I hope all is well. 2005 was a busy one for me, We released 3 records in 2005 Hurting For People,Seeds of Revolution and Live at Cartersville. 2006 will see the release of Spaceseed "The Empire of Night" And a U.S. tour. I have been in the studio co-producing a new album w/ John Pack and Hawkwind Legend Harvey Bainbridge. We are at the mixing stage and adding overdubbs to fix any flubs and adding effects to it. i really like how it sounds and this album should make some noise in 2006. I am currently taking some time off from SFB/GB. We have had a busy period and I am taking on less projects this year.Bob will be back out on the Festival trail again w/ Georgia Blue, he is also working on a live album Georgia Blue recorded in Hartswell Ga. I know Bob recorded the Morrow Show as well but I have't heard him say anything about releasing it.Me and Bob have been playing music on and off for 15 years, I could place a strong bet you will see more music from me and Bob in the future. The Spaceseed album is very heavy and it is exciting to work w/ John Pack and Harvey Bainbridge. I always liked Hawkwind especially the Levitation era stuff w/ Harvey.Last year during the tour we played FREEFALL which was fun to play bass on that. Harvey is the lead vocalist on Empire of Night. We plan to release in 2006 probably in April.I am planning on doing some studio work for some old friends. My drummer in Spaceseed and Superczar has a new group called the Judies. They are talking w/ Geffen right now and have one of the hottest shows going in Atlanta. I plan on playing mandolin on a few of their tracks. J.W. Culp the Superczar bassist hass a new band called GRAVITY and are working on a new album, they gave a cd of the material they are working on and it is amazing.Even Gabe Holland the Superczar vocalist has a project called MONEYSHOT that I am co-producing in my studio. So I see a busy year in our strange little camp. The tour will be in September and i am looking fwd to it, I played a couple of shows last year w/ Spaceseed and now I am co-producing the album and a full member. Bob Harvey was also talking about releasing some Slippery Rock String band recordings from a Live show from the 60's. Bob has let me hear some of the recordings a while back and they are great. My Favorite is Red Rocking Chair. Bob was called the Chrona-Edge and sings a tenor and harmony so tight it will cut your ear. When it's all said and done Bob will be viewed as the legend he is. We wrote probably 25 songs together and remain very close friends. I have always liked to have lots of projects to feed my scizoid appetite for different music's . It has probably hurt me in a way doing albums that are so different and playing Mandolin, bass, gtr, fiddle and a myriad of instruments and not sticking to a particular format. I play what I feel if its Bluegrass or Spacemetal then thats what I do. On the Spaceseed album we had some cool guests play on album like Cyndee Lee Rule a great violinist and Paul Angelsanto. Paul I did a show w/ him as we both opened for Nik Turner and Spaceseed in 2004 at the Cullman Civis Center. He has a quirkey show full of Humour and great psychedelia, He pays a nod and tribute to Bob Calvert. In closing stay tuned and to all those who have followed the Art we are making and to those who spent there hard earned nickel to keep this Family alive and kicking. A special thanks to STUART HAMILTON he has kept this website alive and gets the info out to everyone for years now. This site features San Francisco Blue and its offshoots and relations Spaceseed,Superczar,Jones Ave,.Georgia Blue. Happy New Year and may your God keep you!!!!!!!!! Egatoid!! Brian Fowler 1/7/06

SFB is receiving airplay on WQFS 90.9 on Guilford College in North Carolina. Hurting for people!!!

First of all, the show can be heard each and every Sunday morning on WQFS 90.9 fm,on the campus of Guilford College, which is the only Quaker college in the state of
North Carolina. According to the Princeton Review, we are the sixth most listened
to independent college radio station in the country, with a potential listening audience of about a million people in the area.

Premiere U.S. Space rockers SPACESEED (http://www.spaceseed.org) will join forces this fall with long time Hawklord Harvey Bainbridge (http://harvey.strange-trips.com/). This years "Clouds Over Titan 2005 Tour" will feature the initial pairing of classic Hawkwind Keyboardist and accomplished solo artist Harvey Bainbridge with the East Coast based SPACESEED.

"I am excited about working within the band setting again " stated Bainbridge from his home in Lancashire. "SPACESEED are the most exciting space rock act I have seen in years and I am thrilled to be a part of it. The work they did on Future Cities was simply marvelous." Bainbridge is referring to the CD and tour Future Cities Of The Past PT 1. This disc featured Nik Turner, one of Harvey's former band mates. This is also the disc which first thrust SPACESEED into the international spotlight and nosed its way into a listeners top 100 prog albums of the year pole. " We are going to be trying some different things with Harvey" states SPACESEED leader John Pack. "This tour will have a leaner more electronic feel. But that's not to say there wont be some dam busting rock included as well."
SPACESEED and Bainbridge will be joined on tour by the Solar Fire Light Show based in Cleveland Ohio. Operated by Jim Lascko this is not your regular "jam band" light show. Assisted by long time Solar Fire Man Scot Kuti this is a sensory overload one will not soon forget. It just completed a tour of the States with British Prog legends Ozric Tentacle and is warmed up to burn retinas. " Be sure to wear your sun glasses " Jokes Bainbridge " It is gonna be a blinder "

Opening the show will be Atlanta's Z-Axis (http://gnosisarts.org/z). Z-Axis calls their style of music post-progressive rock, and they have been perfecting and refining it since their formation in 1997. Their traditional prog roots have been filtered through contemporary sensibilities, and augmented with influences ranging from world music to psychedelia to electronica to create a sound that pays homage to the original prog spirit, but isn't mired in the past. Founded by synthesist/composer Allen Welty-Green to perform music he had composed for the multi-media performance art piece, "Reality Check", Z-Axis also features Welty-Green's high-school friend Phillip Hart on a wide range of percussion instruments. Bassist/vocalist Jeff Tyson and guitarist/vocalist Mark Baker round out the line-up with their startlingly original approaches to their respective instruments

2004 News

The focus of the music that Brian Fowler and I are involved in has shifted.

It began with the Cartersville Arts Festival appearance that Brian and I made on October 16th. The freedom and the ease that we experienced on stage at Cartersville made us realize that acoustic is the direction we want to go. We have decided to focus our efforts toward a new San Francisco Blue Album and we are projecting that it will be ready for release by March of 2005. Actually we should have two albums ready by that time. One will be a studio album which we began working on last week - or I should say continued to work on. The two songs that we recorded at Melonie's studio are already in the can. Those two songs are "Hurting For People" and "Children of the Wind". Last week we began recording more songs to add to the new album.

We ended up with three cuts that will definitely be a part of the new album. They are "Bitter Cherry", "Beating of Your Heart" & "Walkin' the Dog". Another song that shows great promise is "House of Treason" which is one of the latest songs written by Brian and David Wisdo.

The Groovy Brothers recorded our Carterville show. That means we will also have a live performance album in the works and both albums could be ready for release at the same time.

I'm very excited about the prospects for the strongest music that SFB has produced yet. "Idiot's Vison" was good, but the new album, which we have tentatively named "Walking the Dog" promises to be head and shoulders above anything we have done yet.

HURTING FOR PEOPLE (3:52) performed by Bob Harvey & Brian Fowler
Bob Harvey : Vocals, acoustic guitar
Brian Fowler : Mandolin, electric bass

Bob Harvey:

In August of 1965, Matthew Katz, the manager, took Jefferson Airplane to Los Angeles to audition for several labels. He got us rooms at the Palms, a secluded lodge in the Hollywood hills. Skip Spence and I had a room together. We spent that first night getting high and writing a song called "Hurting For People".

I wrote the lyrics in my journal, and have hung on to them for 39 years, but the melody was never recorded and was lost in the mists of time, so when I decided to use it for the latest Moby Grape tribute album, I got together with Brian Fowler and we put new music to the lyrics. the one part of Skip's melody that I could remember was to the line, "love is just reaching out while someone else is reaching in". It fit perfectly with the new chord structure.

Brian and I recorded "Hurting For People" with an engineer named Melonie Emerson Taft. She is truly amazing. She got great sound out of all the instruments, including my voice. I'll be proud to have on the new tribute album.
