Peace
At Any Cost (Fowler)
your
days are numbered and flying by
your nights meet morning fast
you hit the treadmill running
like each day was your last
your waiting for that moment that you can call your own
to enjoy the fruits of your labor
but your wife wants a bigger home
#chorus
peace at any cost
even if it means
suffocating who you are
ignoring your own dreams
Peace at any cost
sacrificing your own life
why do you choose unhappiness
and die by your own knife
you
go to church in the morning
with your pious smile
your hair combed neat
you smell real sweet
hypocritical by a mile
the words sound like a jumbled mess
as you check your watch again
the mass ends you go in peace
fufillment isn't why you grin
one
by one you give things up
and she gladly takes them
until your just a paycheck robot
even gave your friends away
lines wrinkle your empty eyes
so disatisfied you can taste it
you look back at your life and cringe
you have no peace at any cost
Peace
at any Cost about is about a dude I knew in the NAVY whose wife was the
definition of shallow and mean, manipulating this poor man w/ threats
of "Im leaving you" and "I'll take your house and children,
And My Shipmate was too weak to put his foot down and stop it . Nervous
breakdowns and Alcohol mixed
with the pressure of hiding it and trying to be this model citizen his
wife dreamed up. This was in 1987. I went to HAWAII on a Holiday and called
him. His trip had not changed. "I guess if you don't know you won't
know" and this song rolled out.....
