SHADOW
LEAVES By Bob Harvey
INTRO:
Was a time when I knew what was gray what was blue
What was false what was true & I knew I loved you
Now flames dance in my heart & I hum in the dark
and the Shadow Leaves fall as I stumble & crawl
I thought you were there on the rooftops
With the sun and the wind in your hair
But your prison don't show on the outside
It
is you must decide pathway narrow or wide
If to fly or to hide there inside
Darkened face turned in haste to the outside
Conscience dares not give warning or chase
In your shadow world crouch down & tremble
Like
a beast bound & tied, in your terrors confide
Searing pain burning deeply inside
BREAK
Turn
your eyes take a good look about you
See the screaming & fury that grow
Pulsed to rhythm & thunder & lightning
See
it move, see it writhe, see it crawl & then climb
See it creeping & clinging inside
See the earth & the sky spread like wings now
But for whom & for what & for why
There is freedom for all who would take it
Look
around, look inside, sunlight's broken the tide
Not a soul here but you & I
REPEAT
